The celebrations for the 100th anniversary of our Republic turned into a veritable Republic festival at the Adana 15 July Martyrs Bridge, featuring a massive Turkish flag measuring 1,699 meters long and 9 meters wide, accompanied by a giant poster of Atatürk.
The events at the Adana 15 July Martyrs Bridge, commissioned by the Ministry of Transport and carried out by Metgün Construction, were organized with the contributions of Adana Governor Yavuz Selim Köşger.
Adana residents took pride in seeing Turkey's largest Turkish flag flying in their city during its 100th year.
They honored Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk with respect and gratitude, and turned the 100th anniversary celebrations into an enthusiastic festival.
During the daytime events, canoeing, cycling, and running competitions were held.
To mark the 100th anniversary, 100 cyclists, 100 athletes, and 100 canoeists took part in the competitions.
The events held in the shadow of the largest Turkish flag ever flown, covering an area of 15,300 square meters on the Adana 15 July Martyrs Bridge, took place in a truly festive atmosphere.
At the event where folk dance groups performed, young people with Down syndrome also joined in the excitement by participating in the running race.
As part of the events, motorcycle police teams saluted both the people of Adana and the giant Turkish flag with a parade.
During the evening portion of the year celebrations, spectacular light and water shows were held.
